Operation Sea Warrior was a South African Special Forces operation that took place from 20 June to 1 September 1985 to sabotage and reconnaissance mission carried out by 4 Reconnaissance Commando into central Angola during the Bush War, targeting the Benguela railway line and confirming the presence of MiG-23 jets at Luena air base. The five-man Special Forces team joined UNITA forces to disrupt enemy logistics and train them in landmine laying before withdrawing after its successful execution.
Objectives:
- Sabotage the Benguela railway line to interrupt the supply of enemy logistics.
- Confirm the presence of Mig-23 fighter jets at the Luena air force base.
- Train UNITA in the laying of several different types of landmines.
