This documentary film provides a look into the flying days of my father in Rhodesia. His pilots license opened up new adventures, including flying to Paradise Island (Santa Carolina) in Mozambique. This period was on the cusp of change as the Bush War gained in intensity and the liberal opportunities in living a Rhodesian lifestyle like no other. STOLEN LIVES - Unfamiliar Confusion (Part 2 of 5) - Life after the Rhodesian Bush War
This documentary series provides an insight into what life was like after Zimbabwe’s independence. This first part (of a 5-part series) covers the Gukurahundi genocide and how this affected white farmers. The result was that nobody was safe again and farmers got murdered and their properties destroyed. This meant we had to sell our farm and unknowingly, the sale agreement was with one of the Zimbabwe CIO people from Mugabe’s office. This started a trail of intimidation with devastating consequences. This Part 1 covers the start of the story and the story gets worse and more dramatic in the following parts of the 5 part series. Handmade Portrait of an Artist - Daniel James Yeomans
This short film highlights some of the ways that war effects people through the eye's of my mother. Our family lived through the Rhodesian war and all of us have been effected in one way or another. Many of the photos were photographed by my mother during 1978. The video's cover photo was taken 3 miles from the Zambian border, near Mushumbi Pools. The little boy on the truck is me at 8 years old and we were escorted by guards who were from the Gwelo police. We think they were temporarily stationed in the Mushumbi Pools during the time we visited my sister. She and her husband were working for Tilcor, an organisation setup to educate people in rural areas on farming the land. This area of the country was extremely dangerous at the time! Over the years I've been cataloging all of our family's old video and cine 8mm film. It occurred to me how precious this video material is to us as a family. So I decided to take on the challenge to tell a story of how important family video is for all our families.
