SADF SF (C & D Coy, 1-Para; 2-Recce; 5-Recce; 32 Battalion) supported by 101 Battalion, launch Operation Firewood B. The objective is to neutralize the SWAPO HQ by means of a motorized assault. During the evolution of this operation some of the SADF SF come under friendly fire from the SAAF due to incorrect interpretation of aerial photography. The operation yields 300 PLAN KIA, 5 SADF KIA and 5 Honorus Crux medals awarded to members of 101 Battalion. Operation Firewood B ends on 8/11/87
